Kent Island and Queen Anne's County is today about where Anne Arundel County was 30-40 years ago.
The major roads are laid out connecting small population centers through large swaths of undeveloped or agricultural land.
The main population centers for those who commute from the
Eastern Shore to the DC/Baltimore Metro area are:
Stephensville 21166
Chester 21619
Centreville 21617
The
Bay Bridge crosses from
Annapolis to
Kent Island and then continues across the
Kent Island Narrows Bridge.
MD 50 splits from 301 shortly after reaching the Eastern Shore with 301 headed north-ish to Wilmington Delaware
and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania while 30 heads south through the Maryland part of the Delmarva Peninsula.
Due to the longer commute Real Estate prices do tend to be lower than other parts of the Annapolis area.
Kent Island Real Estate is the most developed, but in most areas retains a rural quality. The Eastern Shore has small towns, even villages at crossroads but it still mostly agricultural. If you are looking to build your dream house, check zoning requirements carefully, because the current residents intend to keep much of the rural feeling.
